How to Draw a Dog Collar

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a dog collar in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the opening.

Print

  1. Step 1: The opening

A little above the middle of your paper draw a big wide oval lying on its side.

Tip A collar is like a short fat tube, so you see the hole on top.

  2. Step 2: The band

Under the oval draw a big U, end to end. Inside the oval draw a rainbow from edge to edge.

Tip The rainbow inside is the back of the band, so your collar looks like a ring, not a drum.

  3. Step 3: The buckle

In the middle of the band draw a rounded square as tall as the band, and a smaller one inside.

  4. Step 4: Strap end and pin

Left of the buckle draw a strap end. From the buckle draw a pin along it, stopping near the tip.

Tip The pin pokes through a hole to hold the collar shut.

  5. Step 5: Holes

Draw a little round hole on the strap end, and 3 more along the band right of the buckle.

  6. Step 6: Loop and tag

Under the buckle draw a tiny ring. Hang a round tag from it, about as big as a coin.

  7. Step 7: A heart

On the tag draw a little heart, 2 bumps on top meeting in a point at the bottom.

  8. Step 8: Sparkles

Draw a sparkle above the collar on the left, one on the right, and a small one low right.

  9. Step 9: Gold buckle and tag

Go over your lines, then colour the buckle frame, the ring and the tag yellow, leaving the heart white.

  10. Step 10: Red band

Colour the band red, around the gold buckle and inside it too. Leave the opening and the holes white.

  11. Step 11: Red heart, yellow sparkles

Colour the heart red and the sparkles yellow. The collar is ready for a good dog!
