How to Draw a Diving Board
Draw a diving board in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the pool deck.
Step 1: The pool deck
From the left edge, low down, draw a flat deck line, then go straight down to the page bottom.
Step 2: The water
From the deck's top corner draw a wavy water line across to the right edge of the page.
Step 3: The ladder stand
On the deck draw a tall rectangle standing up for the ladder stand, with 4 short rung lines across it.
Step 4: The board
On the stand draw a long chunky board sticking out over the water, thinner and rounded at the tip.
Tip The board reaches past the middle of the pool, 2 fingers thick.
Step 5: Hand rail
From the board's back half draw 2 posts up a thumb high. Join them with 2 bars.
Tip One bar across the top, one halfway up.
Step 6: Bounce lines
Draw a short curved line under the tip of the board and one above it, to show it bouncing.
Step 7: The splash
From the water under the tip, draw a spiky splash crown back to the water. Add 2 rings, 3 drops.
Tip The rings go round the splash's base, behind its spouts. Rub out the water line inside them.
Step 8: The sun
In the top right draw a round sun with short rays all around it.
Step 9: Cloud and sunny face
Draw a small cloud left of the sun. Give the sun 2 dot eyes and a smile.
Step 10: Yellow sun, sky board
Colour the sun yellow. Colour the diving board, the splash and the ripple rings sky blue.
Step 11: Stone deck
Colour the pool deck stone grey.
Step 12: Blue water and drops
Colour the water blue around the splash and the rings, and the drops blue. Leave the cloud white.
