How to Draw an Axolotl Face
Draw an axolotl face in 7 easy steps, about 5 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: wide soft head.
Step 1: Wide soft head
In the middle draw a big wide head, about half the page wide, with fat cheeks and a soft chin.
Step 2: Eyes and cheeks
Halfway down draw 2 round eyes, each with a dot and shine. Add a round cheek below and outside each.
Step 3: Feathery gills
Start high on each side of the head. Draw a long leaf frond out to a point, and back.
Tip Add a line down the middle of each frond. Top ones are longest.
Step 4: 2 more fronds
Under the top frond draw 2 more on each side, each shorter and lower, out to a point and back.
Step 5: Big happy smile
Start under the left eye. Draw one long wide U smile across the face, and stop under the right eye.
Tip Dot 2 tiny nostrils above it.
Step 6: Peach cheeks, pink face
Go over your lines. Colour the cheeks peach, then the head pink around them, leaving the eyes white.
Step 7: Red gills
Colour the 6 feathery gills red and your axolotl is done.

Your finished drawing
