How to Draw Dango
Draw dango in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a plate.
Step 1: A plate
In the middle draw a big oval plate, almost as wide as the page, with a second oval rim inside.
Tip The plate comes first; the dango lies inside the rim.
Step 2: The skewer
Across the plate draw a thin stick of 2 close lines, from the lower left up to the upper right.
Tip End the stick with a little point on the right.
Step 3: First ball
On the lower left part of the stick draw a round ball, as big as a walnut, covering the stick.
Step 4: Second ball
Further up the stick draw a second ball just as big, lifting your pencil where the first is in front.
Step 5: Third ball
Draw a third ball further up still, just short of the point, tucked behind the second.
Step 6: Shines
On the first and third balls draw a short curved line near the top left for a shine.
Step 7: A shadow
Under the balls draw a long thin flat oval shadow on the plate, peeking out below and at both ends.
Step 8: The table
Draw a line under the plate from well left to well right, just touching its bottom.
Step 9: Sky blue plate
Go over your lines. Colour the plate sky blue, around the balls, the stick and the shadow.
Step 10: Pink ball, tan stick
Colour the first ball pink and the stick tan. Leave the middle ball white.
Step 11: Green ball, grey shadow
Colour the third ball green and the shadow grey, and your dango is done!
