How to Draw Dal
Draw dal in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a round tray.
Step 1: A round tray
In the middle of your paper draw a big round tray, nearly as wide as the page.
Tip Dal is yellow lentil soup on a steel tray with rice and bread.
Step 2: The rim
Draw a second circle a finger inside the tray, all the way round, for the rim.
Step 3: A bowl of dal
At the top left of the tray draw a round bowl, 3 fingers wide. Draw a circle just inside it.
Step 4: A chilli
Near the top right edge of the dal draw a curved chilli with a little stem at its fat end.
Step 5: A heap of rice
At the top right, start low and draw a bumpy heap of rice up and over, stopping low again.
Step 6: Folded bread
At the bottom right draw a half circle with its flat side tilted up, for folded bread.
Step 7: Toasted spots
Draw 3 small round spots on the bread, not in a row.
Step 8: A spoon
At the bottom left draw a spoon: a handle, wider at its end, with an oval bowl at the top.
Step 9: Cream rice, yellow dal
Go over your lines, then colour the rice cream and the dal yellow, going around the chilli.
Step 10: Tan bread
Colour the folded bread tan, going around the toasted spots.
Step 11: Red chilli, brown spots
Colour the chilli red and the toasted spots brown.
Step 12: Steel tray and spoon
Colour the tray, the little bowl and the spoon grey, going around the food. Your dal is done!
