How to Draw a Dad Holding a Baby
Draw a dad holding a baby in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw an egg head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave the middle of the page for the arms and the baby.
Step 2: The face
Draw 2 oval eyes, a U nose, a smile and eyebrows. Add C ears, starting and ending on the head.
Step 3: Short hair
Start beside the left eyebrow, draw soft tufts over to the right one. Join the ends with a curved hairline.
Step 4: Neck, shirt and collar
From the chin draw 2 neck lines down to a boxy shirt with round shoulders. Add a small collar.
Step 5: Arms bent in front
From each shoulder draw a bent arm: down, round the elbow, in across the tummy, back to the armpit.
Step 6: Two hands
On each wrist draw a round mitten pointing in toward the middle, with a gap between.
Step 7: The baby's blanket
Draw a big rounded loaf on the arms, going behind the hands. Add a fold curve near its left end.
Tip The fold starts on the top edge and stops at the mitten.
Step 8: The baby's head
At the blanket's left end draw a round baby head inside the fold, with 2 big eyes and a smile.
Step 9: Trousers
Start at the shirt's bottom left. Draw 2 long trouser legs with a point between. Stop at the bottom right.
Step 10: Shoes and ground
Under each leg draw a shoe with the toe pointing out. Draw a long ground line under both shoes.
Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour dad's cheeks pink, then both faces, dad's ears, neck and hands peach around them. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Sky blanket, grey trousers
Colour the blanket sky blue around the baby and the hands, and the trousers grey.
Step 13: Blue shirt, brown hair
Colour the shirt and sleeves blue around the blanket and hands. Colour the hair and shoes brown.
