How to Draw a Crying Baby
Draw a crying baby in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big head.
Step 1: Big head
Draw a big, wide egg head in the top half of your paper.
Tip A baby's head is nearly as big as its whole body.
Step 2: Curl and ears
Draw one little curl on top of the head. Add a small round ear on each side.
Step 3: Squeezed eyes
Draw each shut eye as a curve that sags in the middle. Add a small sloping eyebrow above each eye.
Tip The eyebrows are higher in the middle. That makes the face look upset.
Step 4: Wide open mouth
Under the eyes draw a big, wide open mouth. Draw a hill inside the bottom for the tongue.
Step 5: Big tears
Draw a big tear drop on each cheek. Draw one more drop flying off each side of the head.
Tip A tear drop is pointed at one end and round at the other.
Step 6: Round body
Under the chin draw a round body like a pear, wider at the bottom.
Tip Keep the body shorter than you think: the baby is sitting down.
Step 7: Arms and fists
Draw a short sleeve out from each shoulder, lifting up a little. Put a round fist on each end.
Step 8: Legs and feet
From under the tummy draw a short leg out to each side. Put a round foot on each end.
Tip The baby is sitting, so the legs stick out sideways.
Step 9: Dummy and floor
Beside the baby draw a dropped dummy: an oval, a bump on top and a ring. Add a floor line.
Tip The dummy fell out, and that is why the baby is crying.
Step 10: Peach and pink
Colour the face, ears and fists peach, going around the mouth and the tears. Colour the tongue pink.
Step 11: Blue and yellow
Colour all 4 tear drops light blue. Colour the baby's suit and the bump on the dummy yellow.
Step 12: Red and teal
Colour the inside of the mouth red. Colour the oval of the dummy teal. Your crying baby is done!
