How to Draw a Leapfrog

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a leapfrog in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: first head.

Print

  1. Step 1: First head

Low down on the right side of your paper draw an egg head, tipped forward a little.

Tip Leave lots of room above and to the left.

  2. Step 2: Face and hair

On the head's lower right draw 2 dot eyes, a tiny nose and a smile. Add hair on top.

Tip The face tips down because this kid is looking at the ground.

  3. Step 3: Curved back

Behind the head draw a short neck. Draw a long bean body going left, with a softly curved back.

Tip The back is nearly level, so it is easy to jump over.

  4. Step 4: Bent legs

At the left end draw a round bottom and a bent leg, with the other leg peeking beside it.

Tip The knee pokes forward a little, the bottom pokes back.

  5. Step 5: Shoes and ground

Draw a round shoe on the end of each leg, toes pointing right. Draw a long ground line under them.

  6. Step 6: Hands on knees

Draw an arm from the shoulder to a hand on the knee. Add a sleeve line and the other arm.

Tip Arms are thick at the shoulder and thinner at the wrist.

  7. Step 7: Second head

High above the curved back draw another egg head with 2 dot eyes, a smile and a hair fringe.

Tip This head sits over the middle of the back.

  8. Step 8: Neck and T-shirt

Under the top head draw a short neck and a T-shirt with 2 short sleeves pointing down.

  9. Step 9: Arms pushing down

From each sleeve draw an arm that gets thinner, down to a round hand lying flat on the back.

Tip Both hands must touch the back: that is how you leapfrog.

  10. Step 10: Legs out wide

Draw wide shorts. From each leg hole draw a leg that bends down at the knee to a round shoe.

Tip The legs go out wide so the shoes miss the kid below.

  11. Step 11: Peach skin

Colour both faces, both necks, all 4 arms and hands, and the jumper's 2 legs peach.

  12. Step 12: Yellow and green

Colour the jumper's T-shirt yellow and the shorts green.

  13. Step 13: Red T-shirt and shoes

Colour the bent-over kid's T-shirt and sleeve red. Colour all 4 shoes red too.

  14. Step 14: Blue and brown

Colour the trousers blue and colour both kids' hair brown. Your leapfrog is done!
