How to Draw a Corn Snake
Draw a corn snake in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper, a little left, draw a big egg head that is wider than tall.
Tip Leave room underneath for the coiled body.
Step 2: Two big eyes
In the middle of the head draw 2 big oval eyes, one eye apart, with black dots and white specks.
Step 3: Smile and nostrils
Dot 2 nostrils under the eyes. Start under one eye and draw a wide smile, stopping under the other.
Step 4: The forked tongue
From the middle of the smile draw a fat tongue down past the chin, splitting into 2 little points.
Step 5: Neck and top coil
Curve a thick neck down from the right cheek, then bend it round into a fat sausage coil.
Step 6: Two more coils
Stack 2 wider coils underneath. From under the bottom coil, draw a thin tail out to a point.
Tip Make each coil a little wider than the one on top.
Step 7: The ground
Draw a straight ground line under the coils from the left edge to the right, just touching the bottom coil.
Step 8: Saddle spots
Draw 9 big ovals: 1 on the neck, 2 on the top coil and 3 on each coil below.
Tip Corn snakes wear a row of red saddles on orange.
Step 9: Colour it orange
Go over your lines, then colour the snake orange, going around the ovals. Leave the eyes white.
Step 10: Red saddles and tongue
Colour every oval and the tongue red.
