How to Draw a Coral Snake
Draw a coral snake in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Draw a big round head, a little wider than tall. Leave the rest of the page for the body.
Step 2: Two big eyes
In the middle of the head, draw 2 big oval eyes. Add a black dot and white shine in each.
Step 3: Smile and nostrils
Dot 2 tiny nostrils under the eyes. Draw a wide happy smile low on the head, cheek to cheek.
Step 4: Forked tongue
From the middle of the chin, draw a short thin tongue. Split the end into 2 little points.
Step 5: The wiggly body
From the right cheek, draw a long tube down, over a big hump and thin to a point, then back.
Step 6: The ground
Draw a straight ground line from under the head to past the tail, touching the dip and the tail.
Step 7: Wide bands
Draw 10 wide bands across the body, with a thin gap between each. The last one runs to the tip.
Tip Each band goes right across, like a ring round a finger.
Step 8: Yellow head and gaps
Go over your lines. Colour the head, the neck and the thin gaps yellow. Leave the eyes white.
Step 9: Red bands and tongue
Colour the tongue red. Colour the band next to the neck red, then every other band.
Tip Red touching yellow: that is the coral snake's warning pattern.
Step 10: Black bands
Colour the bands in between black, right to the tail tip. Your coral snake is done!
