How to Draw a Comic Strip
Draw a comic strip in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: three panels.
Step 1: Three panels
Across your paper draw 3 tall rectangles in a row, the same size, with a small gap between them.
Tip A comic tells a story one panel at a time.
Step 2: Three heads
In the lower half of each panel draw a big round head, the same size in all 3.
Step 3: Happy face, spiky hair
In the first head draw 2 dotted eyes and a U smile. Zigzag 4 spikes starting and ending on top.
Step 4: Talking face, fringe
In the second head draw the same eyes, an open smile, and a wavy fringe from side across to side.
Step 5: Laughing face, bun
In the third head draw rainbow eyes and a laughing mouth. Arch hair from side to side, add a bun.
Step 6: Shirts
Start on the panel bottom by the head. Curve over the shoulders, down to the bottom. Add a V collar.
Step 7: Speech bubbles
In the top right of each panel draw a speech bubble: an oval with a tail pointing at the head.
Step 8: HI bubble
In the first bubble write HI in big letters.
Step 9: Question mark
In the second bubble draw a question mark with a dot under it.
Step 10: A heart
In the third bubble draw a heart.
Step 11: Peach faces, brown hair
Colour the 3 faces peach, leaving the eyes white. Colour the spikes, fringe, hair and bun brown.
Step 12: Red and blue shirts
Colour the first shirt red and the second shirt blue.
Step 13: Green shirt, red heart
Colour the third shirt green, the open mouths black and the heart red. Go over your lines. Done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a comic strip, drawn by you.
