How to Draw a Cliff
Draw a cliff in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the cliff.
Step 1: The cliff
From the bottom edge near the left, go up, across a bumpy top, then step down to the bottom edge.
Tip The cliff fills the whole left half of the page.
Step 2: The sea line
From the cliff's face, near the bottom, draw a straight line out to the right edge for the sea.
Step 3: Grass on top
Along the top of the cliff draw a row of little grass bumps, from the left edge to the corner.
Step 4: Rock lines and cracks
Draw 2 bowed lines across the cliff, left edge to front, and a short crooked crack under each.
Step 5: A tree on top
On the cliff top draw a tree: a short trunk from the grass up to a big soft lumpy top.
Step 6: Waves and foam
On the sea draw 3 short curved waves, and 3 little foam bumps where the sea meets the cliff.
Step 7: The sun
Near the top right corner draw a small round sun with 8 short rays.
Step 8: Seagulls
Over the sea draw 2 seagulls: 2 little hill curves side by side that meet in a point.
Step 9: Yellow sun, grey cliff
Go over your lines, then colour the sun yellow and the cliff below the grass stone grey.
Step 10: Leaf tree, brown trunk
Colour the tree's top leaf green and its trunk wood brown.
Step 11: Green grass, blue sea
Colour the grass strip green, and the sea blue right out to the edges of your paper.
