How to Draw a Chupacabra

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a chupacabra in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Round head

Near the top left, draw a big round head, a little wider than tall. Leave room for the body.

Tip A big head is what makes it cute.

  2. Step 2: Eyes, nose and fangs

Draw 2 big oval eyes. From a triangle nose, draw a line down to an open smile with 2 fangs.

Tip The eyes sit on the middle of the head. Nothing touches them.

  3. Step 3: The ears

On each top corner of the head, draw a soft triangle ear leaning out, with a smaller triangle inside.

  4. Step 4: The neck

Start behind the head and under the chin. Draw 2 neck lines down and right. Stop where the body goes.

Tip The front line bows out a little, like a chest.

  5. Step 5: Bean body

Start at the neck. Draw a long back, a big round bottom, and the tummy back up to the neck.

Tip A bean, not a loaf: the bottom is rounder than the chest.

  6. Step 6: Two legs

Draw a ground line. Draw a front leg from the chest and a back leg with a big thigh.

Tip Taper each leg to a thin ankle and a round paw on the ground, with 2 toe lines.

  7. Step 7: Far legs

Behind each leg, draw a far leg peeking out, down to its own paw. Draw only the part that shows.

  8. Step 8: Long tail

Start on the top corner of the bottom. Draw a long tail down to a point, back to the bottom.

  9. Step 9: The saddle

Draw a wavy line along the side, from the bottom to the shoulder. Everything above it is the saddle.

  10. Step 10: Spines down the back

Start on the back behind the neck. Zigzag 5 pointy spines along the back, stopping above the tail.

  11. Step 11: Pink ears, red eyes

Colour the ear insides pink, then a red ring in each eye and the mouth red.

Tip Leave the shines and fangs white.

  12. Step 12: Grey and dark grey

Go over your lines. Colour grey around the pink and red, but the saddle, spines and tail dark grey.
