How to Draw Sheet Music
Draw sheet music in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the page.
Step 1: The page
Draw a tall box for the page with the bottom-right corner cut at a slant and a little folded flap.
Tip The little flap is the corner of the page folded up.
Step 2: Top staff
Near the top of the page draw 5 straight lines across, close together and evenly spaced. This is a staff.
Tip Use a ruler if you like; the lines are all the same length.
Step 3: Bottom staff
Below the middle of the page draw 5 more lines the same way for a second staff.
Step 4: Treble clef
At the top staff's left draw a treble clef: a round curl, a loop above, then down to a dot.
Tip Start on the second line from the bottom and curl out round the bottom 3 lines.
Step 5: Second clef
Draw the same treble clef at the bottom staff's left: round curl, loop above, down to a dot.
Step 6: Top staff notes
On the top staff draw 4 small oval notes on the lines, each with a stem up on its right.
Tip Each note is about as tall as the gap between 2 lines.
Step 7: Bottom staff notes
On the bottom staff draw 4 more notes the same way, but in the gaps between the lines.
Step 8: Beams
Join the tops of the first 2 notes on each staff with a short thick bar: quick little eighth notes.
Step 9: Title line
Above the top staff draw a short line for the title, from over the clef to the middle.
Step 10: Floating notes
Draw a music note floating on each side of the page: a dot with a stem and a little flag.
Step 11: Cream fold, blue notes
Go over your lines, then colour the little folded corner cream and the floating notes blue.
Step 12: Black notes
Colour all the note heads, the beams and the clef dots black. Your sheet music is ready for the band!
