How to Draw a Christmas Window

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a Christmas window in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: window frame.

Print

  1. Step 1: Window frame

Draw a big tall box for the window frame, filling most of your paper.

Tip Use a ruler if you like. Make it taller than it is wide.

  2. Step 2: The glass

Inside the frame draw a smaller box for the glass. Leave a wide band above it and below it.

Tip The band on top is the widest: the lights will hang there.

  3. Step 3: Red bow

A little above the middle of the glass, draw a small round knot. Add a loop on each side.

Tip Each loop is thin at the knot and round at its far end.

  4. Step 4: Bumpy wreath

Start at one bow loop. Draw a big bumpy ring round to the other loop. Add a circle inside.

Tip The bow sits on the very top of the ring.

  5. Step 5: Upright bar

Draw a thin bar from the top of the glass down to the bow, inside the ring, and below it.

Tip The bar hides behind the wreath, so it comes in 3 pieces.

  6. Step 6: Cross bar

Draw a thin bar across the middle the same way. Start at the left side, stop at the right.

  7. Step 7: The sill

Under the frame draw a long flat box for the sill, poking out a little on both sides.

  8. Step 8: Snow on the sill

Start at the bottom left corner of the frame. Draw 3 soft snow humps. Stop at the right corner.

  9. Step 9: Snowy corners

In each pane, start on the outer side near the bottom. Curve a snow heap down, stop on the bottom.

Tip Draw 4 heaps, one in the bottom outer corner of each pane.

  10. Step 10: String of lights

Start on the left of the top band. Draw a sagging wire, stop on the right. Hang 5 oval bulbs.

Tip Leave a wide gap between the bulbs.

  11. Step 11: Sky blue glass

Colour the glass sky blue in all 4 panes and inside the wreath. Leave the snow white.

  12. Step 12: Tan and yellow

Colour the frame and the bars tan, around the snow and bulbs. Colour 2 bulbs yellow.

  13. Step 13: Red and green

Colour the bow and the other 3 bulbs red. Colour the wreath green.

  14. Step 14: Brown sill

Colour the sill brown. Your Christmas window is done!
