How to Draw a Chinese Dragon
Draw a chinese dragon in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Top left, draw the head like a sideways egg, with the snout on the left.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Left of the middle, draw 2 tall round eyes close together. Add black dots with a white shine.
Step 3: Smile and nostril
Under the eyes, draw a wide U smile. Dot a nostril on the snout.
Step 4: Antler horns
On top of the head, draw 2 horns. Each one forks into 2 short round points.
Step 5: Mane and beard
Behind the head, draw 4 soft curly locks for the mane. Under the chin, draw a small U beard.
Step 6: Long whiskers
From the snout, draw 2 long whiskers. Curl one up and one down.
Step 7: Long S body
From the mane, draw a long S body: right, round and back left, then right again to a thin tail.
Step 8: Belly line, tail tuft
From the mane, draw a line inside the body near its lower edge, to the tail. Add a leaf tuft.
Step 9: Back fins
Along the top of the body, draw 6 small round fins, leaning toward the tail.
Step 10: Four legs
Under the top and the bottom of the S, draw a bent leg. Add a far leg beside each.
Step 11: Yellow belly, tan horns
Colour the belly stripe yellow, around the legs. Colour the 2 horns tan.
Step 12: Orange mane and fins
Colour the mane, beard, back fins and tail tuft orange.
Step 13: Red dragon
Colour the head, body and legs red. Leave the eyes white. Your Chinese dragon is done!
