How to Draw a Chess King
Draw a chess king in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: tall king.
Step 1: Tall king
In the middle draw a tall chess king: a crown, a ball head, a collar, a stem, a wide base.
Tip Crown, ball, collar, stem, base: like a tall vase with a head.
Step 2: Two eyes
On the ball head draw 2 big round eyes a finger apart, with a black dot and shine in each.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Start under the left eye. Draw one wide U smile and stop under the right eye. Add small cheeks.
Step 4: Cross
On top of the crown draw a little cross, like a plus sign with thick arms.
Step 5: Crown and collar lines
Draw a curved line across the crown, and 2 across the collar, at its top and bottom.
Step 6: Base lines
Across the wide base draw 2 gently curved lines the same way, one above the other.
Step 7: Little pawn
To the right draw a small pawn: a round head and a body that flares out to a flat base.
Step 8: The board
Draw a straight line across the paper under the pieces.
Step 9: Sparkles
Draw 3 sparkle stars around the king.
Step 10: Pink cheeks, cream king
Colour the cheeks pink, then colour the king cream around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Yellow cross
Colour the cross and the sparkle stars yellow.
Step 12: Grey pawn
Colour the pawn dark grey. Go over your lines and your chess king is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a chess king, drawn by you.
