How to Draw a Cement Truck

Step 1: Cab and flat back

Start on the left. Draw up and over the cab, then level along the low back. Stop at the end.

Tip The cab is a tall loaf; the back is a low shelf.

Step 2: Floor with wheel bumps

Start at the bottom front. Draw the floor with 2 big rainbow bumps for wheels, stopping at the back.

Tip Each bump is nearly a quarter of the truck long.

Step 3: Headlight eye and smile

On the front wall, draw a big headlight eye with a black dot, a smile below, and a pill bumper.

Step 4: Two fat tyres

Under each bump, draw a big tyre circle, a little smaller than the bump, hanging below the floor.

Step 5: Big windscreen

Inside the cab front, draw a big windscreen that follows the curve, a finger in from the edge.

Step 6: Door window

Behind the windscreen, draw a chunky rounded rectangle, just as tall, for the door window.

Step 7: The V stripe

From the back, draw a line under the windows, dipping to a V over the headlight. Stop on the front.

Step 8: Seam and tail light

From the cab's back corner, draw a line down to the floor. Add a pill handle and a tail light.

Tip The seam stops on the floor between the bumps.

Step 9: Mixer drum

Draw a tilted pill drum, 2 bands and a cup. Add a post from the rail up to the drum.

Tip The drum is the biggest thing on the truck, tilted like a ramp, back end high.

Step 10: Hubcaps and road

Add a hubcap circle with a dot in each tyre. Draw a straight road under both tyres, front to back.

Step 11: Sky windows, yellow cup

Colour the windscreen and door window sky blue, leaving a slanted shine white. Colour the cup and tail light yellow.

Step 12: Cream truck

Colour the cab and back cream around the eye, windows and tail light. Colour the bumper and handle grey.

Tip Keep the headlight eye white.

Step 13: Orange drum, black tyres

Colour the drum orange and the post grey. Colour the tyres black, leaving the hubcaps white.
