How to Draw a Hang Glider
Draw a hang glider in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big wing.
Step 1: The big wing
Near the top draw a wide flat triangle wing: nose at the top, far points each side, 2 dips underneath.
Tip Really wide: the tips almost touch the sides of the paper.
Step 2: The control bar
From the back edge's middle draw a hanging triangle: down left, a flat bar across, back up to the start.
Step 3: Helmet and face
Under the bar's left end draw a round head with a helmet line across, 2 big eyes and a smile.
Tip The helmet line runs side to side near the top. Keep a little air around each eye.
Step 4: The body
From behind the head draw the pilot lying flat: a long body with round shoulders, slimmer toward the hips.
Step 5: Arms to the bar
From the shoulder draw a thick arm up to the bar, ending in a round mitten. Add a second arm.
Tip Each arm is its own fat sausage; both mittens sit right on the bar.
Step 6: Legs and boots
From the hips draw a leg trailing right to a boot, toe pointing down. Add the far leg lower.
Tip The far leg is mostly hidden: only its bottom edge and boot show.
Step 7: Keel and stripes
Draw a keel line from the nose down to the back edge, and 2 more to the dips.
Tip Now the wing has 4 stripes.
Step 8: Clouds
Draw a small cloud under the right wing and a smaller one beside the head, each with 3 round puffs.
Step 9: Face and clouds
Colour the face peach and the clouds sky blue. Leave the helmet and eyes white.
Step 10: Yellow and red stripes
Colour the two middle stripes of the wing yellow, then the two outside stripes red.
Step 11: Blue suit, dark boots
Colour the body, arms and legs blue, and the boots and mittens dark slate. Go over your lines!
