How to Draw a Cat and Dog

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a cat and dog in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: cat's head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Cat's head

On the left, draw the cat's head: an egg on its side with 2 tiny fur points on each cheek.

Tip Keep it small. The dog needs the right half of the paper.

  2. Step 2: Pointy ears

Draw a tall pointy ear on each top corner of the head.

Tip The ears lean out a little, like a cat listening.

  3. Step 3: Cat's eyes

In the middle of the head, draw 2 big oval eyes. Add black dots and white shines.

  4. Step 4: Nose and whiskers

Draw a tiny triangle nose with a W smile under it. Add 2 whiskers out from each cheek.

  5. Step 5: Cat's body

From each cheek draw a C down to the ground. From the chin draw 2 legs down to mitten paws.

Tip The legs are wide at the top and thin at the ankle.

  6. Step 6: Paws and curly tail

Tuck a small bun paw beside each front paw. On the left, draw a thick tail curling up.

  7. Step 7: Dog's head

To the right of the cat, draw a big oval head, a little wider than tall.

Tip Start it a little higher than the cat's head: the dog is bigger.

  8. Step 8: Floppy ears

From the top of the dog's head, draw a fat ear hanging down past each cheek.

  9. Step 9: Dog's eyes

Across the middle of the head, draw 2 egg eyes with a gap between. Add black dots and shines.

  10. Step 10: Snout and tongue

Draw an oval snout and a black nose. Add a w smile from the nose down to a tongue.

  11. Step 11: Dog's body

Under each ear draw a big C down, and join them. From the chin draw 2 legs to round paws.

Tip The dog's body is a bit wider than its head.

  12. Step 12: Paws, tail, ground

Draw a hill paw at each bottom corner and a thick tail on the right. Draw one long ground line.

  13. Step 13: Ginger and pink

Colour the cat ginger all over. Colour the dog's tongue pink. Leave all the eyes white.

  14. Step 14: Tan and brown

Colour the dog tan and its 2 floppy ears brown.
