How to Draw a California Map
Draw a california map in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the top edge.
Step 1: The top edge
Start near the top left. Draw a straight line to the right. Stop just before the middle.
Tip California is a long state on the west coast of the USA.
Step 2: The straight side
Carry on from there. Draw a straight line down. Stop about a third of the way down.
Step 3: The long slant
Carry on from there. Draw a long straight line slanting down to the right. Stop near the right side.
Step 4: The river edge
Carry on from there. Draw a short wiggly line down, out and back in. Stop near the bottom.
Tip A big river runs along this wiggly edge.
Step 5: The bottom edge
Carry on from there. Draw a short straight line to the left, dipping a little. Stop well before the middle.
Step 6: The south coast
Start where you stopped. Draw a bumpy coast up and to the left. Stop at a sharp corner.
Step 7: The middle coast
Carry on from the corner. Draw the coast up and left, then cut in. Stop inside the little bay.
Step 8: The north coast
Start inside the bay. Go back out, then up over a bump. Stop where your first line began.
Step 9: The mountains
Inside the map, next to the long slant, draw 3 triangle mountains in a slanting row.
Step 10: The capital star
Just above the little bay, draw a small star for the capital city, Sacramento.
Step 11: Two islands
In the sea below the south coast, draw 2 small islands. Make one long and one tall.
Step 12: Green land
Go over your lines. Colour all the land green, around the mountains and the star. Colour the islands too.
Step 13: Brown and red
Colour the 3 mountains brown and the star red. Your map of California is done!

Your finished drawing
