How to Draw a Boy Ballet Dancer

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a boy ballet dancer in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: egg head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Egg head

Near the top of your paper, in the middle, draw an egg head with a slightly narrower chin.

Tip Leave lots of room on both sides for the arms and the lifted leg.

  2. Step 2: Happy face

On the right half of the head draw 2 oval eyes with black dots. Add a smile under them.

Tip The face sits to the right because the dancer is looking that way.

  3. Step 3: Short hair

Draw hair over the top of the head and down the back. Add a fringe line above the eyes.

Tip Rub out the head line inside the hair.

  4. Step 4: Neck and top

Draw a neck. Under it draw a slim top with a flat bottom and a short sleeve on each side.

Tip A ballet top fits close to the body.

  5. Step 5: Arm in front

From the right sleeve draw a long arm reaching forward. End it in an open hand with a pointed tip.

Tip Give the hand a small thumb. The arm gets thinner towards the wrist.

  6. Step 6: Arm behind

From the left sleeve draw the other long arm stretched out behind. Add the same open, pointed hand.

  7. Step 7: Standing leg

Under the top draw one leg going straight down. Make it wide at the hip and thin at the ankle.

Tip This leg holds the dancer up, so keep it straight.

  8. Step 8: Lifted leg

From the hip draw the other leg stretched out behind, rising a little towards the foot.

Tip This pose is called an arabesque.

  9. Step 9: Ballet slippers

Draw a flat slipper under the standing leg, toe to the right. Draw a pointed slipper on the lifted foot.

  10. Step 10: Floor line

Draw a long floor line from left to right, touching the bottom of the standing slipper.

  11. Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheek

Colour a pink cheek. Colour the face, neck, arms and hands peach. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Grey tights, brown hair

Colour both legs dark grey and the hair brown. Leave the top and the 2 slippers white.
