How to Draw a Bookshelf
Draw a bookshelf in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: tall box.
Step 1: Tall box
Draw a tall box like a door. A finger down, draw a plank from one side across to the other.
Step 2: Sides and shelves
From the top plank draw a side plank down to the bottom on each side. Add 2 shelves between them.
Tip Each shelf is 2 close lines, a third and two-thirds of the way down.
Step 3: 2 big eyes
On the middle shelf draw 2 egg eyes, one eye apart. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a shine.
Tip The middle shelf stays empty: it's the bookshelf's face.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile. Add a small oval cheek beside each end, inside the shelf.
Step 5: Top row of books
On the top shelf draw 3 tall thin books on the left, and 1 book leaning against the right plank.
Tip Books are just tall thin boxes in a row, different heights.
Step 6: Bottom row of books
On the bottom shelf draw 3 standing books on the left and 2 flat books stacked on the right.
Step 7: The floor
Draw a long floor line under the bookshelf, from far left to far right.
Step 8: Cream back, pink cheeks
Go over your lines. Colour the back cream, around the books, and the cheeks pink. Leave the eyes white.
Step 9: Yellow books, wood planks
Colour the tallest book in each row and the lower flat book yellow, then the planks wood brown.
Step 10: Red and blue books
Colour the other books red and blue. Your bookshelf is full of stories!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a bookshelf, drawn by you.
