How to Draw a Blenny
Draw a blenny in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: blunt head, long body.
Step 1: Blunt head, long body
Draw a pout on the left. From its top draw a tall head and long thin body, back to its bottom.
Step 2: Huge eye and smile
Draw a huge eye high in the head with a dot and shine. Smile from the pout to under the eye.
Step 3: Two tufts
On top of the head, above the eye, draw 2 little round-topped tufts standing up.
Tip The silly eyebrow tufts make it a blenny!
Step 4: Round tail
Start at the top of the thin end. Draw a round fan back and down to its bottom.
Step 5: Long back fin
Behind the tufts, start on the back. Draw one long low fin ending at the tail. Add 4 short lines.
Step 6: Gill and side fin
Behind the eye draw a C gill. Under it draw a big fan fin from the body down to the sand.
Step 7: Spots
Draw 5 small round spots on the back half of the body, keeping them off the fins.
Step 8: Bubbles
In front of the lips draw 3 bubbles floating up: small, bigger, biggest.
Step 9: Sand and seaweed
Draw a wavy sand line from edge to edge. Add a short seaweed on the left, a taller one right.
Step 10: Blue bubbles, sandy floor
Colour the bubbles light blue. Colour the sand under the wavy line sandy, around the seaweed.
Step 11: Yellow blenny
Colour the body and lips yellow, around the side fin and the spots. Leave the eye white.
Step 12: Orange fins, green seaweed
Colour the tufts, the back fin, the side fin and the tail orange. Colour the seaweed green.
Step 13: Brown spots
Colour the 5 spots brown. Your blenny is done!
