How to Draw a Yellow Tang
Draw a yellow tang in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: lemon body, long snout.
Step 1: Lemon body, long snout
Start on the right. Draw a big lemon with a long pointy snout on the left, stopping below the start.
Tip Leave the right end open for the tail.
Step 2: Eye and tiny smile
Above the snout, draw one big round eye with a black dot. At the snout tip, add a tiny smile.
Step 3: Small fan tail
From the back's end, draw a small fan tail with a dipped edge, in to the tummy's end.
Step 4: Tall fins
Start above the eye. Draw a tall fin with 3 rays over to the tail. Add a plain one below.
Tip Rub out the body line under each fin, so the fins and body make one shape.
Step 5: Gill and side fin
Behind the eye, draw a long C for the gill. From its middle, draw a small leaf fin pointing back.
Step 6: Tail spine
On the narrow part just before the tail, draw a tiny pointed leaf lying flat: the tang's hidden spine.
Tip Draw it small, like a grain of rice.
Step 7: Bubbles
Above the snout, draw 3 bubbles floating up, small at the bottom and biggest at the top.
Step 8: Sand and seaweed
Draw a wavy sand line edge to edge. Stand 2 leaning seaweed leaves on the left, 1 on the right.
Step 9: Colour the tang yellow
Colour a pink cheek under the eye. Colour the fish yellow around it, leaving the eye and tail spine white.
Step 10: Sandy floor, blue bubbles
Colour the floor under the sand line sandy, around the seaweed, and the bubbles light blue.
Step 11: Green seaweed
Colour the seaweed green. Go over your lines and your yellow tang is done!
