How to Draw a Bird of Paradise Flower
Draw a bird of paradise flower in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the boat.
Step 1: The boat
Above the middle draw a long pointed boat lying on its side, with a sharp point at the right.
Tip The pointed green boat looks like a bird's beak.
Step 2: The stem
Under the boat's left end draw a stem of 2 lines down to the bottom, wider at the foot.
Step 3: The first orange petal
Start on the boat near its left end. Draw a long narrow spike up left, back to the boat.
Step 4: Three more petals
Start a little further along the boat each time. Draw 3 more spikes, each leaning more to the right.
Step 5: The blue tongue
Near the pointed end, start on the boat. Draw a fat blue spike leaning up right, back to the boat.
Step 6: A big leaf
Left of the stem draw a thin stalk from the ground leaning up left, with a big paddle leaf.
Step 7: A second leaf
Right of the stem do the same: a thin stalk from the ground leaning up right, with a shorter leaf.
Step 8: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line nearly edge to edge. Add 2 grass spikes on each side of the plant.
Step 9: Orange petals
Go over your lines, then colour the 4 spiky petals orange.
Step 10: Blue tongue
Colour the tongue bright blue.
Step 11: Green leaves
Colour both leaves and their stalks leaf green.
Step 12: Green boat and stem
Colour the boat and the stem dark green, and your bird of paradise is done!
