How to Draw an Airplane
Draw an airplane in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the body.
Step 1: The body
Start on top of the nose. Draw a flat top to a small tail, then a fat tummy back.
Tip A chubby banana flying to the right. End back at the nose.
Step 2: Eyes and smile
Near the nose draw 2 big eyes. Start under the back eye, draw a wide smile to the front eye.
Step 3: The big wing
Start on the tummy under the back eye. Swoop down to a wing tip, then back up behind the smile.
Tip Wide at the body, narrow at the tip. Stop on the tummy.
Step 4: Nose cone
Start on top of the nose. Draw a half dome round to the bottom. Add a circle on its tip.
Step 5: Propeller blades
From the little circle draw 2 paddle blades, one up and one down, each swelling to a round end.
Step 6: Cockpit and windows
Draw a half dome on the top line behind the eyes. Add 3 windows in a row toward the tail.
Step 7: Tail fin
Start on the top line near the tail. Sweep up to a tall top, then straight down to the tail.
Tip Make it taller than the cockpit. It leans back.
Step 8: Tail wing
Start on the tail under the fin. Draw a small wing poking back to a round tip, then back.
Step 9: The far wing
Start at the back of the cockpit. Draw a thin wing tip sloping back, then down to the top line.
Tip Keep it low and thin, much lower than the tail fin.
Step 10: The stripe
Start on the tail. Draw a long stripe along the body under the smile to the nose.
Step 11: Wheels
Under the smile draw 2 short legs hanging from the tummy. Add a round wheel with a dot on each.
Step 12: Yellow wings, blue windows
Colour the wings, fin and tail wing yellow, and the cockpit and 3 windows sky blue.
Step 13: Grey propeller, red top
Colour the propeller, legs and wheels grey, and the top red around the windows. Leave the tummy and eyes white.
