How to Draw a Betta Fish
Draw a betta fish in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: fat egg body.
Step 1: Fat egg body
Start left of the middle. Draw a big rainbow back, stopping at a short neck. Add the same curve underneath.
Tip Leave a gap at the front for the lips.
Step 2: Eye and kissy lips
In the front gap, draw puffy kissy lips like a B. Near the front, draw one huge round eye.
Tip Make the eye really big: this fish is a cuddly toy.
Step 3: Flowing veil tail
Start at the end of the back. Draw a huge wavy scarf tail up, back and down to the belly.
Tip As big as the body, with a wavy back edge.
Step 4: Big top fin
Start on the back above the eye. Draw a big flowing sail leaning back, ending on the back.
Step 5: Gill
A finger behind the eye, draw a short C bowing toward the tail, not touching the back or belly.
Step 6: Side fin
Behind the gill, below the middle, draw a fat leaf fin lying flat, pointing toward the tail. Add 2 rays.
Step 7: Long belly fin
Start on the belly under the gill. Draw a long flowing fin down and back, ending on the belly.
Step 8: Scales
On the back half of the fish, draw little U's like tiny smiles in 3 rows, stacked like roof tiles.
Step 9: Bubbles
In front of the lips, draw 3 bubbles floating up, small to big.
Step 10: Sand and seaweed
Under the fish, draw a long low sand hill with a flat bottom. Add 2 seaweed blades left, 1 right.
Step 11: Sand and bubbles
Colour the sand sandy and the bubbles light blue.
Step 12: Green weed, red betta
Colour the seaweed green. Colour the body and lips red, around the side fin. Leave the eye white.
Step 13: Blue fins
Colour the big tail and all 3 fins blue.
