How to Draw a Beaver

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a beaver in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: wide head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Wide head

Near the top of your paper, draw a wide head with a flat top, fat cheeks and a wide chin.

Tip Leave lots of room under it: the body will be bigger.

  2. Step 2: Round ears

Draw a small round ear on each top corner of the head, tucked behind the head line.

  3. Step 3: Muzzle and nose

Low on the face, draw a wide oval. Colour a black nose sitting on its top edge.

Tip The oval is more than half as wide as the head.

  4. Step 4: Big eyes

Above the oval, draw 2 big round eyes. Colour black pupils and leave a white shine in each.

  5. Step 5: Smile and teeth

From the nose, draw a short line down to a w smile. Hang 2 big buck teeth from the middle.

  6. Step 6: Whiskers

Start on the oval and draw 2 short whiskers out each side. Stop before the edge of the head.

  7. Step 7: Big round body

Under the cheeks, draw a big pear body, widest at the tummy and flat at the bottom.

Tip Make it taller and wider than the head.

  8. Step 8: Arms and paws

From each side of the body, slope an arm down and in to a round mitten with 2 toe lines.

Tip The 2 mittens nearly touch in the middle.

  9. Step 9: Big webbed feet

Start low on each side. Draw a bean foot out and round, stopping under the tummy. Add 3 toe lines.

Tip The heel hides under the tummy.

  10. Step 10: Flat paddle tail

Start on the right hip. Draw a flat oval tail, stopping at the bottom of the foot. Add criss-cross lines.

Tip Make the lines cross like a net.

  11. Step 11: The ground

Draw one long flat ground line under the feet and tail, from one side of the page to the other.

  12. Step 12: Cream and sand

Colour the nose patch cream and the tummy sand, but not the arms. Leave the 2 buck teeth white.

  13. Step 13: Brown fur

Colour the head, ears, arms and feet brown, around the nose patch and tummy. Leave the eyes white.

  14. Step 14: Dark grey tail

Colour the flat tail dark grey around the foot, pressing lightly so the lines show. Go over your lines.
