How to Draw a Basilisk
Draw a basilisk in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
In the top left draw a big round head like an egg on its side. Leave room for the body.
Tip The head is big: a third as tall as the whole basilisk.
Step 2: Two big eyes
In the middle of the head draw 2 big eggy eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 3: The beak
Under the eyes draw a small pointed beak, like a triangle pointing down. Add a line across it.
Step 4: Comb and wattle
Start on the head top and draw 3 pointed bumps, stopping on the head. Add a wattle under the beak.
Step 5: The long body
Start on the chin. Draw a long tube swinging down in a big loop, curling up to a sharp point.
Tip Fat near the head, thinner and thinner to the tip.
Step 6: The belly line
Start on the body's edge under the wattle. Draw a long line inside it, joining the tail's top edge.
Step 7: The ground
Under the basilisk, start at the left edge and draw one straight ground line across to the right edge.
Step 8: A grass tuft
Near the right end of the ground draw 3 grass blades. Start on the line and stop in the air.
Step 9: Oval spots
Along the top of the body draw a row of 4 oval spots, getting smaller toward the tail.
Step 10: Yellow belly and spots
Go over your lines. Colour the belly strip and the spots yellow.
Step 11: Orange beak, red comb
Colour the beak orange. Colour the comb and wattle red.
Step 12: Green basilisk
Colour the head and body green around the yellow, orange and red. Leave the eyes white. Your basilisk is done!
