How to Draw an Emperor Penguin
Draw an emperor penguin in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Start near the top of your paper. Draw a big egg head, wider near the bottom, and join it up.
Step 2: Two ear patches
Start low on each cheek. Draw a fat comma up the side of the head to a point, and back.
Tip Keep it inside the head, with its bottom point on the head line.
Step 3: The beak
Under the middle of the head draw a long thin beak pointing down, like a narrow slice of pie.
Step 4: Two big eyes
Either side of the beak top draw 2 big eggy eyes. Add a black dot and white shine in each.
Step 5: The body
Start on the left cheek. Draw a tall egg down, round the bottom, and back up to the right cheek.
Step 6: Two flippers
Start under each cheek. Draw a long narrow flipper down to a round tip, and back up to the cheek.
Tip Flippers hang down like long arms, not out to the sides.
Step 7: The tummy
Start at one patch tip, draw a tall U and stop at the other tip. Curve a chest line across.
Step 8: Two feet
Start just above the body bottom. Draw a wide foot down to 3 round toes, and back up. Do 2.
Tip Leave a gap between them. They poke up a little over the bottom line.
Step 9: Snow
Start near the left side and draw a long bumpy snow line under the toes, across to the right side.
Step 10: Golden patches and chest
Colour the ear patches and the chest yellow, then colour the long beak orange.
Step 11: Black around the patches
Colour the feet grey. Colour the rest black around the yellow, orange and grey. Leave the eyes and tummy white.
