How to Draw a Banana Boat

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a banana boat in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the waves.

Print

  1. Step 1: The waves

Below the middle, draw a line of gentle wave bumps across the page. Add a few ripples below.

  2. Step 2: The big banana

On the waves, draw a huge banana lying on its back, tips curling up. Its bottom hides in the water.

Tip A banana boat is one giant blow-up banana that kids ride like a horse.

  3. Step 3: Ridge, stem, tip

From the left tip, draw a long ridge curve along the banana, stopping near the right tip. Add a stem.

  4. Step 4: Three handles

On top of the banana, draw 3 little hoops standing up, evenly spaced, each starting and stopping on it.

  5. Step 5: Rider: head and helmet

Above the banana draw a round head. Rule a helmet line across: start on its left, stop on its right.

Tip Leave room under the head for the body.

  6. Step 6: Rider: face and body

Dot 2 eyes and draw a smile. From the chin, draw a rounded vest down to the banana.

  7. Step 7: Rider: arm and leg

Draw a bent arm from the shoulder to a hand on the first handle. Hang a leg and shoe over.

  8. Step 8: Second rider: head

Behind the first rider draw a second head. Start its helmet line left, stop right. Add eyes and a smile.

  9. Step 9: Second rider: body

Start at the second chin. Draw a vest down to the banana and stop. Add an arm, leg and shoe.

  10. Step 10: Tow rope

From the stem, draw a short curved rope going up towards the left edge of the paper.

Tip The speedboat pulling the banana is out of sight.

  11. Step 11: Yellow banana, brown ends

Go over your lines, then colour the banana yellow. Colour the stem and the right tip brown.

  12. Step 12: Red and orange vests

Colour the first rider's vest, arm and leg red, and the second rider's vest, arm and leg orange.

  13. Step 13: Peach faces, blue sea

Colour the faces and hands peach. Colour the sea blue, from the waves down to the bottom of the paper.

  14. Step 14: Helmets and shoes

Colour the first helmet blue and the second helmet green, and colour both shoes blue. Your banana boat is off!
