How to Draw Ball Lightning
Draw ball lightning in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the glowing ball.
Step 1: The glowing ball
Left of the middle, draw a big round ball floating in the air.
Tip Ball lightning is a rare glowing ball that floats in a thunderstorm!
Step 2: 2 big eyes
In the ball draw 2 big eggy eyes a little apart, each with a black dot and a white shine.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a happy U smile. Add a small oval cheek just past each end of it.
Step 4: The glow
Draw a bigger circle all round the ball, a finger away from it, for the glow.
Step 5: Lightning sparks
Round the glow draw 6 little zigzag bolts pointing out from its line, one top, one bottom, 2 each side.
Step 6: A window
On the right draw a tall box for the window. Under it draw a long thin box for the sill.
Step 7: Storm cloud
Near the top of the window draw a cloud with 3 round bumps on top and a flat bottom.
Step 8: Lightning and rain
From under the cloud draw a zigzag bolt to a point. Add 4 slanting rain lines, 2 each side.
Step 9: Yellow ball and bolts
Colour the ball, 6 sparks and window bolt yellow, round the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 10: Blue glow, pink cheeks
Colour the glow ring light blue, around the yellow ball, and colour the cheeks pink.
Step 11: Grey cloud and sill
Colour the storm cloud and the window sill grey.
Step 12: Stormy sky
Colour the window sky dark grey, around the cloud and the bolt. Go over your lines. Done!
