How to Draw a Baa Baa Black Sheep

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a baa baa black sheep in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big soft head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Big soft head

Left of the middle, near the top, draw a big egg head with a soft chin leaning to the left.

Tip The head is nearly as tall as the woolly body. Leave room on the right.

  2. Step 2: Eyes and nose

Draw 2 big eyes with black dots and a small nose. From the nose draw down to a w smile.

Tip Put them a little left of the middle, so the sheep is turning to look at you.

  3. Step 3: Ears and woolly cap

Draw a leaf ear on each side of the head, the left one smaller. Add a fluffy cap on top.

Tip Rub out the top of the head inside the cap.

  4. Step 4: Fluffy body

Start behind the head. Draw a big cloud body with soft bumps all round, back to under the chin.

Tip Keep the bumps round, like the edge of a cloud.

  5. Step 5: Two legs

Draw a ground line. From under the wool draw a front leg and a back leg down to hooves.

Tip Each leg gets thinner, then ends in a little hoof with a line across.

  6. Step 6: Far legs

Between them draw 2 more legs, a little thinner. Start under the wool and stop at the ground.

Tip These are the legs on the far side, so all 4 hooves stand on the line.

  7. Step 7: Pom-pom tail

High on the back end draw a small pom-pom tail with soft bumps, tucked behind the wool.

  8. Step 8: Three bags

On the left draw 3 sacks standing in a row, each with a fat bottom, thin neck and frilly top.

Tip Draw the big middle sack first, then a smaller one leaning on each side.

  9. Step 9: Tie the bags

Draw a band round the neck of each bag to tie it shut. Add one crease line under each band.

    Tip Three bags full!

  10. Step 10: Cream and pink

Colour the face, ears and legs cream. Colour the nose and inside the ears pink.

    Tip Leave the eyes white.

  11. Step 11: Bags and hooves

Colour the 3 bags light brown. Colour their ties and the sheep's hooves dark brown.

  12. Step 12: Colour the wool

Colour the woolly cap, body and tail dark grey or black. Press gently so the bumpy lines still show.
