How to Draw an Australia Map

Draw an australia map in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the east coast.

Step 1: The east coast
Start at the top, right of the middle. Draw a bumpy line down, slanting right. Stop at the far right.
Tip Australia is a huge island, and a whole country too.
Step 2: The bottom corner
Carry on from there. Curve down and round to the left. Stop at a low point.
Step 3: The south coast
Carry on from the low point. Make one small bump, then curve up to the left and stop.
Step 4: The pointed notch
Carry on from there. Draw a line straight up, then slant back down to the left. Stop there.
Tip The sea pokes into the land here.
Step 5: The big bay
Carry on from the notch. Draw a long curve up, over to the left and down. Stop at a corner.
Step 6: The west coast
Start at that corner. Draw a line up, leaning left, then bend back to the right. Stop halfway up.
Step 7: The top left
Carry on from there. Draw a long line slanting up to the right. Stop at a point.
Step 8: The top end
Start at that point. Dip down, climb up to a round bump, then slant down a little and stop.
Step 9: The big gulf
Carry on from there. Draw a big U down and back up to a tall point. Join your first start.
Step 10: The island
Under the bottom right corner, draw a small island shaped like a heart.
Tip This island is called Tasmania.
Step 11: The big rock
In the middle of the land, draw a low, wide hill with a flat bottom. It is a giant rock.
Tip This famous red rock is called Uluru.
Step 12: Blue sea
Go over your lines. Colour the sea light blue, out to the edges of your paper.
Step 13: Green land
Colour the land and the island green, around the big rock.
Step 14: Orange rock
Colour the big rock orange. Your map of Australia is done!
