How to Draw a Maine Map
Draw a maine map in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the west side.
Step 1: The west side
Start at the bottom, left of the middle. Wiggle up a little, then draw straight up. Stop above the middle.
Tip This long straight line is the west side of Maine.
Step 2: The bumpy border
Carry on from there. Draw a bumpy line climbing up and to the right. Stop near the middle.
Tip This edge runs along high hills.
Step 3: The long slant
Carry on from there. Draw a straight line slanting up to the right. Stop at a point near the top.
Step 4: The top
Start at that point. Dip down, then draw a bumpy line to the right. Stop near the right side.
Tip A river makes this bumpy top edge.
Step 5: The east side
Carry on from there. Draw a long straight line down. Stop level with the top of your first line.
Step 6: The east point
Carry on from there. Draw a wiggly line down and to the right. Stop at a point.
Step 7: The wavy coast
Start at that point. Draw a wavy coast down and to the left. Stop inside the second bay.
Tip This is where Maine meets the sea.
Step 8: More coast
Start inside the bay. Draw the wavy coast down and left. Stop where your first line began.
Step 9: The big lake
Inside the map, left of the middle, draw a tall thin lake that leans a little.
Step 10: The mountain
Right of the lake, a little higher up, draw a triangle mountain.
Tip This is the tallest mountain in Maine.
Step 11: The capital star
Low down, near the coast, draw a star for the capital city, Augusta.
Step 12: Blue lake
Go over your lines. Colour the lake light blue.
Tip On a map, lakes and seas are blue.
Step 13: Green land
Colour all the land green, around the lake, the mountain and the star.
Step 14: Brown and red
Colour the mountain brown and the star red. Your map of Maine is done!
