How to Draw an Anubis

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw an anubis in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: jackal head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Jackal head

Near the top draw a round head with a long snout pointing left, rounded at the tip.

Tip The snout is nearly as long as the round part of the head.

  2. Step 2: Tall ears

On top of the head draw 2 tall pointed ears. Add a smaller pointed shape inside each.

Tip Tall ears standing straight up make it a jackal.

  3. Step 3: Eye, nose and smile

Draw a big eye with a dot and a shine. Add a black nose on the tip and a smile.

  4. Step 4: Headdress

Draw a cloth round the back of the head, down to a flap. Add a matching flap under the snout.

Tip Both flaps end at the same height.

  5. Step 5: Headdress stripes

Draw lines across the headdress, edge to edge: 2 on the left flap and 6 down the right side.

Tip Keep the lines level, like the rungs of a ladder.

  6. Step 6: The tunic

Start under the left flap. Draw a T-shirt shape with short sleeves and stop under the right flap.

  7. Step 7: Broad collar

From flap to flap under the neck draw a curve. Draw a deeper curve under it for a wide collar.

  8. Step 8: Arms and hands

From each sleeve draw an arm that gets thinner to the wrist and ends in a round hand.

Tip Keep the hands away from the kilt.

  9. Step 9: The kilt

Start at the tunic's bottom left corner. Draw a kilt with a round hem. Stop at the bottom right corner.

  10. Step 10: Belt and tab

Draw a belt line across the top of the kilt, edge to edge. Hang a small tab from its middle.

  11. Step 11: Legs

From under the kilt draw 2 legs, each 2 lines getting closer, down to the ankles.

  12. Step 12: Sandals and ground

Under each leg draw a flat sandal, toe pointing out, standing on a long ground line.

  13. Step 13: Yellow gold, tan sandals

Colour the ear insides, every second stripe, the collar, belt and tab yellow. Colour the sandals tan.

Tip Start with the bottom stripe of each flap, then skip one.

  14. Step 14: Blue stripes, grey jackal

Colour the other stripes blue. Colour the head, ears, neck, arms and legs dark grey. Leave the eye white.

Tip Leave the tunic and kilt white.
