How to Draw the Andromeda Galaxy
Draw the Andromeda Galaxy in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the tilted disc.
Step 1: The tilted disc
Across the middle draw one very long flat oval, tilted: left end low, right end high.
Tip Keep it long and thin: this is a spiral galaxy seen on a slant.
Step 2: The bright middle
In the very middle draw a plump round blob, tilted the same way, for the bright core.
Step 3: Big eyes
In the core draw 2 big egg eyes side by side with black dots and white shines.
Step 4: A happy smile
Start at the bottom of the left eye. Draw a wide U smile across to the right eye.
Step 5: The top arm
From the core's right side, sweep a soft arm over the top to a thin tip on the left.
Step 6: The bottom arm
From the core's left side, sweep a soft arm under the bottom to a thin tip on the right.
Step 7: Twinkles around
Draw 4 little 4-point twinkles around the galaxy, one near each corner.
Step 8: Pink cheeks and arms
Go over your lines. Colour 2 pink cheeks on the core and both arms pink.
Step 9: Yellow core and twinkles
Colour the core yellow around the cheeks. Colour the twinkles yellow. Leave the eyes white.
Step 10: Purple disc
Colour the rest of the disc purple, around the core and the arms. Your galaxy is done!
