How to Draw an Alpaca

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head and muzzle.

Print

  1. Step 1: Head and muzzle

Near the top left, draw an egg-shaped head, narrower at the chin. Add an oval muzzle over the chin.

Tip The head is about as big as the body is deep.

  2. Step 2: Eyes and nose

Draw 2 big eyes. On the muzzle, draw a dark nose. From it, draw a line down to a smile.

Tip Keep the eyes above the muzzle, not touching it.

  3. Step 3: Wool and tall ears

Draw a fluffy wool cloud on top of the head. From it, draw 2 tall pointy ears standing up.

  4. Step 4: The neck

Start at the bottom of the head. Draw 2 neck lines sloping down, and stop half a head lower.

  5. Step 5: Fluffy body

From the neck, draw a big fluffy cloud body, bumpy all the way round, shaped like a bean.

  6. Step 6: Two legs

Add a front leg under the chest and a back leg under the bottom, getting thinner down to round feet.

Tip Each foot is a plump round pad with a line splitting 2 toes.

  7. Step 7: Far legs

Add 2 thinner far legs peeking out behind the near legs. Draw a ground line under all 4 feet.

  8. Step 8: Fluffy tail

From the top of the bottom, draw a small fluffy tail with 3 bumps, hanging out and down.

  9. Step 9: Colour it cream

Go over your lines. Colour the whole alpaca cream. Leave the eyes white.

  10. Step 10: Pink ear insides

    Colour the ear insides pink.
