How to Draw an African Wild Dog
Draw an African wild dog in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big round head.
Step 1: Big round head
Near the top left draw a big round head with soft cheeks. Leave lots of room on the right.
Step 2: Huge round ears
On each top corner of the head draw a huge ear with a round tip, and a smaller one inside.
Tip Huge round ears are what make it a wild dog.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Draw 2 big eyes just above the middle of the head, each with a black dot and a shine.
Step 4: Muzzle and smile
Below the eyes draw a round muzzle with a black nose. From the nose draw a line into a smile.
Step 5: Bean body
From behind the head draw a long bean body, tummy curving up. Bring the chest up to the chin.
Step 6: Two legs
Draw the ground. From the chest draw a front leg, then a back leg with a round thigh, to paws.
Step 7: Far legs
Behind each leg draw a thin strip of the far leg peeking out, down to a paw on the ground.
Step 8: Bushy tail
From the top of its bottom draw a bushy tail hanging out and down, with a curve across the tip.
Step 9: Coat patches
Draw 4 wobbly patches on the body, like spilled paint. Keep them apart so none touch.
Step 10: Cream patch
Colour the shoulder patch next to the head cream. Leave the eyes and the tail tip white.
Step 11: Colour it tan
Go over your lines. Colour the head, ear insides, body and legs tan, around the muzzle and the patches.
Step 12: Brown ears and patches
Colour the ears, muzzle, other patches and tail brown, around the tan ear insides and the white tail tip.
