How to Draw a 3D Star

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a 3D star in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big star.

Print

  1. Step 1: The big star

Near the middle draw a big five-point star, as big as your hand, one point straight up.

Tip A little left of middle: the thick side sticks out right.

  2. Step 2: Two big eyes

In the middle of the star draw 2 BIG eggy eyes, a gap between. Black dot and shine in each.

  3. Step 3: A big smile

Leave a gap under the eyes and draw a big wide U smile from eye to eye, ends turning up.

  4. Step 4: Rosy cheeks

Beside each end of the smile draw one small sideways oval for a rosy cheek.

  5. Step 5: Thick top and arm

From the top point draw a line up right. Copy the edge down, out past the arm tip, join back.

Tip Add one short slanted line at the inside corner, leaning the same way.

  6. Step 6: Thick bottom leg

Start on the line under the right arm, copy the bottom-right leg's edge down, then join back to its tip.

  7. Step 7: Sparkles on the left

On the left of the star draw two sparkle stars, one higher and one lower.

  8. Step 8: Sparkles on the right

Draw two more sparkle stars on the right to match.

  9. Step 9: Floor and shadow

Start in from the left edge. Draw a floor line under the 2 bottom points, stopping before the right edge.

Tip Hang a flat half-oval shadow under the floor line.

  10. Step 10: Yellow star and sparkles

Go over your lines. Colour the star front and 4 sparkles yellow, round the cheeks. Leave the eyes white.

  11. Step 11: Orange sides, pink cheeks

Colour the thick sides orange, darker than the front. Colour the 2 cheeks rosy pink.

  12. Step 12: Grey shadow

Colour the shadow under the floor line grey. Your 3D star is done!
