How to Draw a Wood Duck
Draw a wood duck in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a round head.
Step 1: A round head
Near the top left of your paper draw a round head, a little wider than tall. Leave room below.
Step 2: Short red bill
On the front of the head draw a short bill, out and back to the chin. Add a mouth line.
Step 3: One big eye
A little behind the bill draw a big round eye. Fill it with a black dot, leaving a white speck.
Step 4: Neck and chin strap
Draw a neck. From the chin draw a strap finger up the cheek, then down to the front neck line.
Tip Rub out the head line inside the strap finger.
Step 5: Feather helmet
Draw a helmet from the head top back to a point at the neck. Add 2 stripe bands along it.
Tip Rub out the head line inside the helmet.
Step 6: Chest, back and tail
From the neck draw a chest curve down to the bottom. Add a long back and a short round tail.
Step 7: Chest line and wing
From the neck line, curve down to the bottom of the body. Add a teardrop wing pointing at the tail.
Step 8: Wavy water
Start at the left edge. Draw a soft wavy water line across to the right edge, under the duck.
Step 9: Tan side, brown chest
Colour the side tan, around the wing. Colour the chest brown, from the neck line down to the water.
Step 10: Green head, red eye
Colour the head and neck green; leave the eye, stripes and strap white. Colour the bill and eye ring red.
Step 11: Slate wing, blue water
Colour the wing and the tail dark grey. Colour the water blue under the wavy line.
