How to Draw a Kangaroo
Draw a kangaroo in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top left of your paper draw a big egg lying on its side. The nose is left.
Tip Leave room below and right: the body hangs off the head.
Step 2: Two tall ears
On the back of the head draw a tall leaf ear leaning back. Draw a second one behind it.
Step 3: Eye, nose and smile
Draw a big oval eye halfway down the head. Add a black nose tip and a short smile under it.
Step 4: Long flat foot
Leave a gap under the head. Draw a long flat slipper foot with a round heel and 2 toe lines.
Tip A kangaroo foot is as long as its head.
Step 5: Back and tummy
Draw a big C from behind the head down to the heel. Draw the tummy from chin to foot.
Step 6: Little bent arm
Start on the tummy below the chin. Draw a small bent arm with a round paw, back to the tummy.
Tip Kangaroo arms are tiny and tucked in, like a T. rex.
Step 7: Big back leg
Draw a big C from halfway down the back to the foot. Curve from under the eye to the leg.
Step 8: Thick tail
Start low on the back. Draw a thick tail to a round tip on the ground, back to the heel.
Step 9: Pouch and joey
Start below the arm. Draw a smile curve across to the leg. Add a joey head with 2 ears.
Step 10: Joey face
Give the joey 2 round eyes with black dots and a small black nose.
Step 11: Ground line
From the toes draw a line out to the left edge. From the tail tip draw a short line right.
Step 12: Cream tummy
Colour the tummy patch and the pouch cream, around the joey. Colour the inside of the front ear pink.
Step 13: Colour it tan
Go over your lines. Colour the kangaroo and the joey tan, around the cream and pink. Leave the eyes white.
