How to Draw a Wisconsin Map

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a wisconsin map in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bottom edge.

Print

  1. Step 1: The bottom edge

Start low down, left of the middle. Draw a straight line to the right. Stop near the right side.

Tip Use a ruler if you like. Leave lots of room above this line.

  2. Step 2: The lake shore

From the right end, draw a gently wavy line up, leaning a little right. Stop almost halfway up.

Tip This side is the shore of a huge lake, Lake Michigan.

  3. Step 3: The thumb

From there, draw a long thin thumb up to the right and back down. Stop left of its start.

Tip Keep a gap between the 2 sides of the thumb.

  4. Step 4: The bay

From there, turn and draw a bumpy line up, leaning right. Stop at a small point.

Tip The water between this line and the thumb is Green Bay.

  5. Step 5: The river edge

From the point, step left, then wiggle a line up and to the left. Stop there.

  6. Step 6: The long slant

From there, draw a long straight line slanting up to the left. Then curve up a little and stop.

  7. Step 7: The top coast

From there, go left. Make a small dip, then a big rounded bump. Slope down to the left and stop.

Tip This top edge is the shore of Lake Superior.

  8. Step 8: The left side

From there, draw a short straight line down. Then wiggle a line down, bulging left. Stop halfway down.

  9. Step 9: Close the map

Carry on from there. Wiggle a line slanting down to the right, then down. Join your first line.

Tip This edge is a huge river, the Mississippi.

  10. Step 10: A long lake

Below the bottom of the bay, draw a small thin lake standing up.

  11. Step 11: The capital star

Low down, in the middle, draw a star for the capital city, Madison.

Tip On a map, a star shows the capital city.

  12. Step 12: Blue lake

Go over your lines. Colour the small lake light blue.

  13. Step 13: Green land

Colour all of the land green, around the lake and the star.

  14. Step 14: Red star

Colour the star red. Your map of Wisconsin is done!
