How to Draw a Vulture
Draw a vulture in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: bald head.
Step 1: Bald head
Near the top left draw a big smooth egg head, a little wider than tall.
Tip Leave room below it for a neck and a big body.
Step 2: Hooked beak
From the forehead draw a hooked beak down to a point, back to the chin. Add a mouth line.
Step 3: One big eye
A finger behind the beak draw a big round eye. Fill in a big black dot, leaving a shine.
Step 4: Neck and fluffy collar
Start under the head, draw 2 neck lines down and stop. Round their ends draw a fluffy cloud collar.
Step 5: Hunched body
Start behind the collar. Draw a hunched back down to a point, round the tummy, and stop at the collar.
Tip The back is higher than the collar, like a big hump.
Step 6: Folded wing
Start on the hump behind the collar. Draw a wing curve down, stopping near the point. Add 2 feather lines.
Step 7: Short tail
Start under the wing tip. Draw a short square tail out and down, then stop at the tip.
Step 8: Front leg and toes
Start at the front of the tummy. Draw a short leg down and 3 chubby toes, stopping on the tummy.
Tip Two toes point forward, one back, ready to grip the branch.
Step 9: Back leg and toes
A thumb behind the first leg draw another leg and toes the same way, from the tummy back to it.
Tip Leave a gap between the 2 feet. Both sit at the same height.
Step 10: The branch
Behind the toes, from the left draw a long level branch across, round the end and back left.
Step 11: Cream collar, wood branch
Colour the fluffy collar and the hooked beak cream. Colour the branch light brown.
Step 12: Pink head, grey feet
Colour the bald head and neck pink, leaving the eye white. Colour the legs and toes grey.
Step 13: Dark brown feathers
Colour the body, wing and tail dark brown, going around the cream collar.
