How to Draw an Utah Flag

Draw an utah flag in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: pole and ground.

Step 1: Pole and ground
Draw a tall thin pole on the left, a ball on top, and a ground line from edge to edge.
Tip Leave lots of room on the right for the flag.
Step 2: The waving flag
Start on the pole below the ball. Draw a wavy top edge, a straight right side, a wavy bottom edge.
Step 3: A big hexagon
In the middle of the flag draw a shape with 6 even sides, a point at the top and bottom.
Tip Make it two thirds as tall as the flag.
Step 4: The rim
Draw a smaller hexagon just inside the first one to make a thin rim.
Step 5: Five mountain peaks
Start at the pole. Zigzag across to the right edge: 2 peaks, a big peak over the hexagon, 2 more.
Tip Keep the big peak's slopes level with the hexagon's sides.
Step 6: The bottom band
Start at the pole. Draw a line across, dipping in a V under the hexagon. Stop at the right edge.
Step 7: The beehive
Inside the hexagon, near the top, draw a wide dome with a flat bottom, like an upside-down U.
Tip Leave room under it for a star.
Step 8: Beehive bands
Draw 3 lines across the beehive. Start each on the left side and stop on the right side.
Tip Space the lines evenly, like rings on a straw hive.
Step 9: The star
Under the beehive draw a star with 5 points. Leave a small gap above it.
Step 10: Gold beehive
Colour the beehive, the rim of the hexagon and the ball on the pole yellow.
Tip Yellow is the lightest colour, so it goes first.
Step 11: Grey pole
Colour the tall pole grey.
Step 12: Red band
Colour the bottom band red, all the way along.
Step 13: Dark blue top
Colour the top of the flag and the inside of the hexagon dark blue. Leave the mountains and star white.
