How to Draw a Tayra

Draw a tayra in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: small head.

Step 1: Small head
Up on the left, draw a head that is round on top and narrows to a short, blunt snout.
Tip Keep it small: a long body goes behind it.
Step 2: Small side ears
On each side of the head, level with the top of the eyes, draw a small round ear.
Tip Stop each ear where it meets the head.
Step 3: Big eyes
Above the middle of the head, draw 2 big round eyes. Add a black dot and a white shine.
Step 4: Nose and smile
Low on the snout, draw a small black nose. From its tip, draw a line down to a w smile.
Step 5: Long low body
Start behind the right cheek. Draw a long low back, a round bottom, then the tummy up to the chin.
Tip Make the body about twice as long as the head is wide.
Step 6: Two short legs
From the chest, draw a short leg down to a round paw. Do the same under the bottom.
Tip Give each paw 2 toe lines. Rub out the tummy line inside each leg.
Step 7: Far legs
Draw 2 far legs peeking out, one just behind the front leg and one in front of the back leg.
Tip Only draw the parts you can see.
Step 8: Bushy tail
Start on the back. Draw a bushy tail out and down to a soft tip. Stop on the bottom.
Tip Rub out the body line inside the tail, so they are one shape.
Step 9: Neck line
Start on the back, a finger behind the head. Curve down and stop on the chest.
Tip This is where the pale neck meets the dark body.
Step 10: The ground
Draw a long flat line under all 4 paws, from below the head to below the tail.
Step 11: Tan head and neck
Colour the head, ears and neck tan, around the nose. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Colour it brown
Go over your lines. Colour the body, legs and tail brown, around the tan neck.
