How to Draw Spinach
Draw spinach in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: middle leaf.
Step 1: Middle leaf
In the middle draw a big leaf like a raindrop: round at the bottom, a soft point on top.
Tip Let the edge wobble a little, like a gentle wave.
Step 2: Left leaf
Behind it on the left draw another wavy raindrop leaf leaning out. Tuck its bottom behind the middle leaf.
Step 3: Right leaf
Do the same on the right: a wavy raindrop leaf leaning out, tucked behind the middle leaf.
Step 4: Middle veins
Draw a line up the middle of each leaf, starting low where it shows and stopping short of the point.
Step 5: Side veins
On the middle leaf draw 2 pairs of short veins branching off the middle line, one pair low, one higher.
Step 6: More veins
Give the left leaf and the right leaf 2 pairs of short branching veins too.
Step 7: The stems
From under each leaf draw a thin stem down, the side ones slanting in, all meeting a finger lower.
Step 8: The string
Where the stems meet draw a small band across them, like a little belt, a thumb tall.
Step 9: The ground
Draw a long ground line a finger's length under the band, from far left to far right.
Step 10: Stem ends
Under the band draw the stem ends as a short strip to the ground, with 2 lines inside.
Step 11: Light stems, tan string
Go over your lines, then colour the string tan and all the stems light green.
Step 12: Green leaves
Colour all 3 leaves dark green, right down to the stems. Your spinach is done!
