How to Draw a Shoreline
Draw a shoreline in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the shoreline.
Step 1: The shoreline
Below the middle, start near the left edge. Draw a wavy line of bumps across to the right edge.
Step 2: Three coconuts
Above the left of the sand draw 3 round coconuts in a bunch. The palm tree grows from here.
Step 3: Five fronds
From the coconuts draw 5 pointed leaves: drooping left, up left, straight up, up right and drooping right.
Step 4: Leaf lines
Start near the coconuts inside each frond. Draw a curved line down the middle and stop short of the tip.
Step 5: The trunk
Start low on the sand, left of the middle. Draw a line leaning up to the coconuts. Add a second.
Step 6: Trunk rings
Start on the left trunk line near the bottom. Draw a short curve across to the right line. Repeat upwards.
Step 7: The horizon
Start near the left edge, above the shoreline. Draw a straight line across to the right edge.
Step 8: Little waves
In the sea between the 2 lines, draw 3 little wavy lines with 2 bumps each.
Step 9: The sun
In the top right corner draw a round sun. Add 8 short rays around it.
Step 10: A starfish
On the sand, right of the tree, draw a little starfish with 5 points.
Step 11: Sun and sand
Colour the sun yellow and the sand tan, from the shoreline down to the bottom.
Step 12: Sea and starfish
Colour the sea blue between the horizon and the shoreline, out to both edges. Colour the starfish orange.
Step 13: Fronds and trunk
Colour the 5 fronds leaf green and the trunk wood brown, up to the coconuts.
Step 14: Brown coconuts
Colour the 3 coconuts dark brown. Go over your lines and your shoreline is done!
