How to Draw a Sapphire
Draw a sapphire in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the sapphire.
Step 1: The sapphire
Draw a big gem shape: a flat top, 2 short slants out, then 2 long lines down to a point.
Tip Like a wide cup sitting on top of a long triangle.
Step 2: The middle line
Start at the left corner and draw a straight line across to the right corner.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Above the middle line draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each, leaving a shine.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile. Draw a small oval cheek beside each end of the smile.
Step 5: The table
From each top corner draw a slanted line down to the middle line, either side of the face.
Step 6: Bottom facets
From where those lines meet the middle line, draw 2 long lines down to the bottom point.
Step 7: A cushion
Under the sapphire draw a soft puffy cushion with round ends, its top tucked behind the point.
Step 8: Sparkles and ground
Draw 4 sparkle stars round the sapphire, 2 on each side. Add a ground line under the cushion.
Step 9: Yellow and sky blue
Colour the sparkles yellow and the 2 small top corner facets sky blue, so your sapphire shines.
Step 10: Pink cheeks
Colour the cheeks pink.
Step 11: Blue table
Colour the table and the middle bottom facet bright blue, around the face. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Purple cushion
Colour the cushion purple.
Step 13: Navy facets
Go over your lines, then colour the 2 long bottom side facets navy blue. Your sapphire is done!
